Focused and Accountable
Jordon has demonstrated being a solid, accountable, and trustworthy leader who prioritizes vibrancy for everyone in our city. He has been championing issues related to fair housing, community safety, protecting our civil rights, and committed to bringing forth innovative economic development opportunities.
Growing up with unstable housing as a child and having worked on creating housing options for young people such as Brewery Creek and the Direct Cash Transfer Program, I am intimately aware of the housing shortages in our area. It is time to support current efforts to create a multitude of housing options in our community and regenerate neighborhoods, which works to foster community relationships.
Housing is a vital component of what impacts our overall health and wellbeing. I am very clear that we need accessible and fair housing options for every generation.
I plan to research and identify ways to reduce barriers to homeownership, since this is one way to build economic wealth for our families.
We often hear the words public safety when it comes to the City of Duluth and primarily focused around the Downtown Area. I live Downtown and want to focus on Community Safety mechanisms. We all deserve to feel safe in our neighborhoods.
Community safety is about watching out for one another, compassionately caring for each and every community member, and creating an environment where we can enjoy our beautiful city.
I am invested in bringing conversations forward in our city that begin to create a system that centers on community safety and violence prevention. There are many ways to cocreating safety in our communities.
Growing our economy is about investing in our communities, land, water, and business owners.
The city is engaged with redeveloping downtown through the Imagine Downtown Duluth initiative. With a plan currently being developed, I want to ensure that we are expanding our economic development opportunities through a lens on social investment and lifting up all our communities in the process.
We need to ensure our workforce is cared for and treated with dignity, a living wage, and becoming leaders in their respected fields or industries.
Our workforce is vital to every aspect of our lives and the prosperity of our city.
We need to ensure our workforce development programs are fully supported, our unions have fair contracts, and any new employment opportunities coming into the city are caring for our community members.
I have worked since I was 15 years old and worked in a multitude of positions from the service industry, customer service, higher education, and executive leadership.
I will stand along our workforce and ensure all people are treated fairly.
Where we live, work, and play impacts our health outcomes. For well over a decade, I have been leading efforts to ensure our communities health is a priority. This includes addressing health disparities, access to education, fair housing options for individuals and families, protecting our land and water, and much more.
We have the power to change the health outcomes in our city for generations through current partnerships with local entities.
I am invested in caring for the health of our overall community and creating a path of abundance ahead for our future generations.
